So what’s the big deal about wearing your hair down? The fact that when your lovely locks are hanging down, there is so much more you can do with them! From celebrities to the everyday woman, the concept of wearing your hair down leaves plenty of room for creativity to truly allow your style to stand out among the rest. If you’re looking for a little inspiration and want to try something new this year, you’ll want to take note of the following looks.
Until recently, bone stick locks were all the rage, but this year is all about the power of the curl! No longer for little girls, women of all ages are sporting a head full of sexy ringlets and curls of all sizes. Wearing the hair down allows your full range of curls to take the limelight. The beauty of wearing curls is that you often can control what kind to sport: tight spiral curls, loose voluminous curls, classic pin curls, or finger waves. For those with naturally curly hair, you’ve already got a great head start, while those with straight hair can turn to a good ole perm or curlers to achieve the look they want.
Another style that is making waves both on and off the red carpet is the classic Hollywood glamour look. This includes side parts and seductively sideswept bangs across the forehead, clips and other accessories to accent hair worn down, and voluminous waves of hair with a sleek, polished look.
Asymmetric cuts are also coming back in style. The idea behind this concept involves actually cutting the hair so that one side is longer than the other. When worn down and styled properly, the final result can make any woman look like a knockout. The most commonly worn asymmetric cuts include ear to shoulder length bob hair cuts.
Yet another style that looks great on hair that is worn down involves mixing textured cuts. Any time you properly combine certain hairstyle elements that normally don’t go together, the results can be unique, edgy, and amazing. For example, you can try wearing your hair down as normal but add a few funky braids to it, or do the opposite by braiding, curling or crimping your hair, but sporting long, straight bangs. Even certain cuts can achieve this look, such as cutting certain sections to create a sharp, angular or sculptural look.
