Waxing vs. Threading: Which Method is Right for You?

Waxing vs. Threading: Which Method is Right for You?There are a number of hair removal methods and each woman has her preference. Many have often debated which method is better when it comes to waxing and shaving, however, with the concept of threading quickly becoming a popular hair removal method, there is a new debate. Shaving will always be an option but if you’re looking for a new debate, you’ll want to read on about the pros and cons of waxing versus threading.

In case you aren’t familiar with the practice of threading, this process involves using a long strand of pure cotton thread to literally grab a whole row of hair and remove them in one swift motion. This practice originated in the Middle East and has been in use for centuries. Threading has since then made its appearance in America and a handful of other countries. In the past only certain areas offered threading services but with its popularity growing, more salons and day spas are making it a point to provide threading to its customers.

Threading has many pros and those that get it done regularly rarely go back to any other method. This process is perfect for removing unwanted facial hair (upper lip, chin, cheeks and eyebrows) but can also be used to remove body hair. The main benefit of getting threading done is that it can remove an entire row of hairs at once, which results in a clean line. Because only a cotton thread is used, there is no hassle with sticky substances or the risk of burning your skin with hot wax. This practice is also seen as more sanitary. However, threading may be too much for a first timer. The feeling of getting the hairs removed all at once can be a shock at first. But if you’re a hair removal veteran or are used to waxing, then the experience won’t bother you as much. The entire process takes minutes so you don’t have to deal with any discomfort for long. Price-wise, the cost of threading varies and often depends on where you live and the place you are getting the service done at. Some salons charge over $15 for the services while others charge as little as $8. Prices may also be determined by the area you need threading.

Waxing has been a hair removal favorite for many women and even men over the years and continues to be a popular service. Waxing removes hair using a cloth strip covered in hot wax, which grabs onto the hair and removes them from the root. Waxing tends to be fairly affordable and the results often last for a few weeks. The feeling of getting waxing done can be painful at first but most people get used to it. While waxing can provide pretty good results for removing facial hair, the process itself can be messy and if the wax is too hot it can burn your skin or cause irritation. One con of waxing is that sometimes the strip doesn’t remove all of the hairs you want. For fans of waxing, you can now find many do-it-yourself waxing products at the store, which allow you to save time and money by learning how to wax in the privacy of your own home.
