Get The Skills It Takes To Apply Mineral Makeup

Get The Skills It Takes To Apply Mineral MakeupYou’ll be hard-pressed to find a line of cosmetics that doesn’t include mineral makeup. Made from finely ground minerals, these foundations, eye shadows and blushes contain high amounts of pigment that offer medium to full coverage without looking heavy or caked-on. Another great benefit to using mineral makeup is that most is free of irritants and allergens. These makeups are different than traditional cosmetics, so application has to be adjusted slightly to achieve the same smooth finish.

For the ultimate foundation application, start by washing your face and applying a moisturizer with sunscreen. A Kabuki brush, which has a short, fat handle and stiff bristles, is the best choice for buffing foundation into the skin. Dip the brush into the loose foundation and tap off excess powder. Swirl the brush against the back of your handle to work the powder deep into the bristles.

To best apply the foundation, make small circles starting at the outer edges and work in toward your nose. Apply with firmer pressure where you want more coverage, lighter pressure where you want less coverage.   Apply only one coat for the more luminous finish. If you need additional coverage in any areas or you need to touch up any blemishes, use a small concealer brush. For shine control, dab with blotting papers rather than rubbing on additional makeup. The smooth finish mineral makeup provides can be easily smeared unless you blot gently. If you’ve applied too much and your skin looks dull, cakey or ashy, sweep a clean powder brush over your skin to remove excess without smearing.

Mineral cheek and eye colors have rich pigment which blends evenly and easily over mineral foundation. Using a complete line of mineral makeup rather than mixing traditional cosmetics with minerals will give you a much cleaner, more flawless finish. For perfect eyes, add an additional shadow brush to your case and use it to lightly blend where your eye shadow meets your concealer and foundation.

To chose the best mineral makeup for your skin type, follow these easy guidelines: For sensitive skin, opt for a line that uses paraben-free ingredients. For acne prone skin, be aware of ingredients that can clog pores like dimethicone. For those with oily skin, your best makeup should be silicone-free to absorb the excess oils in your skin. Oils can stick to mineral makeup and make it virtually impossible to achieve a smooth finish. It’s a great idea to use a small drop of primer under your moisturizer to help smooth your skin’s surface. If you prefer the luminous finish like J.Lo, use products that contain mica – unless your skin tone is dark; mica makes dark skin look ashy.

To effectively remove mineral makeup, use an oily cleanser. The oils in these face washes can quickly dissolve the mineral powders and remove makeup with less scrubbing.

When you know how to choose, apply and remove your mineral makeup you will find that this makeup can totally reinvent your skin and the way you look with makeup on. The finish mineral makeup offers is far more flawless than that of traditional makeup.
