Fashion Tips for Men: What to Wear and How to Wear It

Fashion Tips for Men: What to Wear and How to Wear ItFashion and men don’t usually go hand-in-hand. Most men are content to live their lives in a pair of jeans and t-shirt. However, there is a new generation of men that are not only becoming more concerned with how they look but are also interested in the latest fashions. If you fall into this category, then you’ll want to know what the latest clothing items are and how to properly wear them.

By now you’ve probably noticed that more and more men are wearing bright colors that normally were reserved for your female counterparts. It isn’t uncommon these days to see the manliest of men sporting shades of pink, reds, blues, and even neon greens. However, this isn’t a throwback to the ‘80s. Showcasing bright colors these days isn’t about being an eyesore. If you want to learn how to integrate bright, neon colors into your wardrobe, do so but make sure it’s subtle. One of the most fashionable ways for men to wear neon colors is by showing small bits and pieces of it in your outfit. For example, wear a blazer in a neutral shade with a brightly colored shirt underneath, peeking through above the back of the collar and/or sneaking out of the cuffs of your sleeves.

Vests are another clothing item that men are beginning to wear again. However, vests can either look really great on a guy or really wrong. If you’re interested in wearing a vest the good news is that the latest trends involve moving away from the vest, jeans and sweater combo and snazzing it up by pairing it with a dress shirt or suit jacket. Look for vests in fabrics like gray flannel, wool, and corduroy. This gives your vest a new, stylish flare without making it seem like you’re trying to relive your teen years.

Wearing plaid no longer applies to lumberjacks, nerds, or fans of the grunge era. However, to successfully wear plaid you’ll want to make sure it works as an accent piece and not the main attraction. You can pull off the plaid look by wearing it with a tie and solid colored trousers. Or underneath a stylish solid colored jacket with dark bottoms. Avoid wearing plaid bottoms, there are few - if any- ways to make those stylish.

Wearing all black once meant going to a funeral or being labeled a “goth” or “emo.” However, when done right, men can stylishly wear an all black ensemble and be anything but boring. When putting together an all black outfit make sure you utilize layers and be sure they are all similar fabrics so that your outfits looks completely put together. Wearing all black also means you can show off by wearing accessories. This is great for those that like silver. You can sport a sleek, silver watch or a stylish pair of boots. The key to wearing all black is to know where to wear it. This look is best for dinner dates and casual power meetings at the office.
