Boost Your Breakfast with Energy Foods

Boost Your Breakfast with Energy FoodsIt can be difficult to get up in the morning, nonetheless remain motivated enough to want to start your day. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and if you want to keep your brain and body functioning, you’ll want to stick to a good and hearty first meal. But if you’re pressed for time or think that the only breakfast you can enjoy is a sugary cereal, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see that you do have better options out there.

There seems to be less and less time available and more tasks added to our daily routine. This can make it easy for most to either have an unhealthy breakfast or no breakfast at all in the effort to save time. However, skipping out on this important meal or turning to sugary alternatives won’t do you any good in the long run, either. Instead of stressing about breakfast, plan for it accordingly. During the weekend make some time to make your breakfast snacks and meals ahead of time. If you’re a fan of energy bars, save yourself a couple of dollars and make your own energy bars at home. One easy recipe involves mixing rice cereal, raisins, oats, peanuts, and wheat germ in a bowl. In a separate bowl mix brown sugar, peanut butter, and corn syrup. Put this second mixture into the microwave and heat until it starts bubbling. Remove from the microwave, stir in some vanilla and pour it onto your first bowl of dry, mixed ingredients. Place the final mixture onto a greased pan, press firmly and allow it to harden. Finally, cut your mixture into squares and store in small baggies. Now you have a supply of energy bars that you can easily grab on your way out the door. Another quick breakfast alternative is to down a homemade smoothie. You can premix your smoothie drink the night before and have it ready to store in your favorite cup or beverage container. You’ll be able to get a hearty helping of fruits and juices that will keep your appetite satiated until lunchtime.

If you’re a mother trying to hit the point home to the kids about how important breakfast is, it isn’t hard to make their breakfast - and yours - fun as well as healthy. Routine tends to make things boring and food is no exception. Remix your kids’ breakfast cereal by adding fresh slices of fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, bananas or peaches. To make oatmeal thicker and tastier, use milk or juice instead of plain water. Want to save your kids the trouble of waiting for their oatmeal to cool down? Then add a scoop of yummy ice cream to not only take off the heat but add to the taste.
