Tips for Hosting Your Own BrunchBrunch is one of those meals that’s best enjoyed with good friends in a positive and happy atmosphere. But you don’t necessarily need a fancy restaurant, waiter, and lengthy menu to pull off a successful brunch date. If you’re looking for a new way to spend time with your girlfriends, then why not take things into your own hands and host your own homemade brunch?

 

The good news about hosting your own brunch is that you don’t have to be chef. The food is only half the fun, the other half is the company you invite over. However, in order to have a successful home brunch, you’ll want to take time to plan accordingly, put together your menu, and figure out who you’ll invite and where in your home you’ll be hosting your event. Think about who you want to invite, since the number of people will dictate how much food needs to be prepared, cooked, and served. After you figure out how many people you will be inviting, choose where you want to host your brunch. If you have a large kitchen with an island and nice setup, you can have your brunch there. Or if you want to get a taste of the outdoors, you can host your home brunch in your backyard and make use of your patio furniture. The next part may be the most fun: choosing which plate settings to use for your brunch event.

 

Next comes planning the menu. Don’t worry about going overboard and offering a huge amount of dishes. Keep things simple and address your guests’ taste palettes. Make a note of food allergies and foods you know they don’t care for. Find dishes that will be well received by everyone. Also account for vegetarians or other special diet needs. The best way to approach the food factor when it comes to hosting a brunch get together is to serve the food family-style. This means serving a large portion of each dish so that your guests can serve themselves. This also gives them the option to choose what they want to eat and also prevents dishes from piling up.

 

The following should be used as guidelines to help you prepare your meals for your brunch: prepare and serve 1-3 sides, make sure to offer fresh fruit, muffins, breads, and serve one meat dish, one fish dish, and one veggie dish. Set up pitchers of water, iced-tea, and fruit juice. Not exactly a cooking whiz? That’s okay - you can also opt to keep things simple by cooking what you’re good at. There’s nothing wrong with hosting a brunch filled with pancakes, omelettes, waffles, crepes, and/or quiche. Some easy meats to work with include sausage links, chicken with pasta, bacon, salami, and sausage patties. Because you’ll be sharing this brunch experience with your closest girlfriends, they’ll totally understand and be supportive of whatever you decide to serve.
