The Beauty of Idebenone

The Beauty of IdebenoneIdebenone (eye-deb-eh-known) is actually a very recent discovery in the anti-aging industry. This potent ingredient is not just known for its ability to combat wrinkles and other signs of aging, but it can help benefit the body as well. Just what does Idebenone do and how does it do it so well? It’s time to find out.

Idebenone is an organic compound that also acts as an antioxidant. To get a better idea of what this ingredient is, Idebenone is most commonly compared to the ingredient Coenzyme Q10, which also works to eliminate the signs of aging and is used in many anti-aging products. Studies have shown that while Coenzyme Q10 is very effective in targeting free radicals to prevent oxidation, it has the unfortunate ability to switch from an anti-oxidizing process to an auto-oxidizing process. This means that Coenzyme Q10 is prone to producing free radicals and defeating the purpose of preventing oxidation. However, it is impossible for Idebenone to do the same, making it superior to Coenzyme Q10.

Of course it isn’t accurate to say that one is necessarily better than the other. Idebenone performs better than Coenzyme Q10 in some ways but not all. Despite its flaw, Coenzyme Q10 continues to be an in demand ingredient in the anti-aging industry.

Idebenone is definitely worth its weight in gold however, when it comes to wonder ingredients, especially in anti-aging, the price of such products can break even the fullest wallet. Luckily, skincare researchers know that it is very important for them to come up with solutions that are not only good for us and helpful to our skin, but also affordable and realistic to the general public. While Idebenone itself tends to be very expensive in skincare form, there are many products out there both on the market that are currently undergoing research that will hopefully allow future anti-aging products containing Idebenone to fall within your price range.

Idebenone isn’t limited to just anti-aging benefits, however. This ingredient has been known to improve the general health of the body and mind as well as improving a person’s physical appearance over the years. The presence of Idebenone in the body works to increase the brain’s serotonin levels and enhance brain structure and function, as well as the brain’s levels of nerve growth. Because of Idebenone’s superior ability to eliminate and prevent oxidation and free radicals, the rest of the body and its organs are more efficiently protected.

Medical studies have shown Idebenone to be effective when used on those suffering from degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, depression and a score of other conditions. As one medical study noted, “Treatment with Idebenone was found effective on memory, attention, and orientation and in slowing down the natural progressive worsening of the disease.”

How many anti-aging and beauty ingredients can do as much as Idebenone? Not many, which is why this powerful ingredient will continue to make its presence known both in and outside of the skincare realm.
