Not renting a beach house this summer? No plans for that retreat by a lake? If your summer plans are to stay home you don’t have to forgo all of the fun of a getaway. You can plan some great experiences at home. While this certainly doesn’t compare to the Riviera, a trip to the cosmetic counter of your favorite department store can be fun, too.

If you’re like most people, when you shop for cosmetics you buy the same brands and products year after year. You might even be using the same color palette that you’ve used forever. It’s easy to get stuck in a “cosmetic rut”. It might not be that you aren’t open to new ways or ideas; it’s just that everyday life is busy. You don’t have time to stroll around and see what’s new.

Plan a day when you can devote time to checking out the new products. You might even schedule an appointment for a professional make-over. It’s a great way to try new products and discuss your particular skin care issues. Usually if you just stop by the cosmetic counter, the sales representative can fit you in that very day.

As with any good vacation you return home with souvenirs. You can “return home” from your cosmetic vacation with some wonderful samples of the latest fragrances and make-up. You might even feel energized from your day trip. You’ll especially feel great not having to pay off those credit card bills that you would have racked up on the Riviera.
