Pageant Celebrates Assisted Beauty

Updated Oct 15, 2009

They say beauty is only skin deep, but a beauty pageant in Hungary is putting a new spin on that saying. According to online reports, the event, Miss Plastic, which was held in Budapest featured women who had cosmetic procedures such as nose jobs or breast augmentation. Organizers of the pageant hope to change the perceptions about cosmetic procedures in that country.

Dr. Tamas Rozsos, a cosmetic surgeon offered this quote, “Plastic surgery has a bad reputation in Hungary but it’s mostly due to the exaggerations.” Interestingly, cosmetic surgery has proved to be recession proof in Hungary, contrary to trends in most other countries such as the USA.

Organizers were quite picky about the beauties that made the cut, no pun intended. Anti-wrinkle fillers simply weren’t enough to meet their standards. A 22-year old hostess, Reka Urban took home the top prize literally. She won herself a new apartment, located in Budapest.
