Yet another case has highlighted the potential risks of certain cosmetic surgery procedures. Published reports state that Nigerian First Lady, Stella Obasanjo died four years ago after receiving liposuction at a clinic in the Mediterranean. A Spanish plastic surgeon, Antonio Mena Molina was recently convicted for negligent homicide.
According to the reports, Obasanjo’s colon and liver were damaged after the tube used in the procedure was improperly inserted. Initially the cause of death was listed as an asthma attack. Currently cosmetic surgery tourism is one of the biggest beauty trends with many Americans travelling to places like Asia and Mexico for cheaper operations. Many experts in the plastic surgery industry have issued warnings about this practice.
