Unilever to Make New Acquisition

The world’s second largest consumer goods company Unilever, is planning to buy Sara Lee Corp. according to published reports. Unilever is known for personal care brands like Axe and Dove. Sara Lee is known for its food products, but it also owns brands like Brylcreem for hair care, and Master, a line of facial washes and toners. Both of these lines are sold outside the US.

 

The new deal is expected to further Unilever’s dominance of the worldwide skin care market. Shares in Sara Lee jumped after the news broke in the Wall Street Journal that parties were interested in buying the company. Sara Lee, which is based in Illinois, will be selling its European arm the reports indicate.
